Whatever the weather may be Cornwall certainly has plenty to offer. From stunning beaches that are perfect for hot summer days to award-winning family attractions that area ideal for when the weather isn’t being so kind… we guarantee that you won’t get bored during your stay at our Newquay caravan park!

But away from the likes of Fistral Beach and the Eden Project there’s also many picturesque destinations that are just waiting to be explored. One of our favourites is the nearby town of Port Isaac, which is just a short drive away along the north Cornish coast.

Why visit Porth Isaac?

Some of you may know Port Isaac from its ‘on-screen’ name of Portwenn, aka the home of the TV’s grumpiest doctor, Doc Martin. Yes, Port Isaac is where the popular ITV comedy-drama is filmed, with production crews descending on the fishing village for months at a time. And they certainly chose well…

Why not visit the film locations of this popular TV show, including the Doc’s house, the local school, Ms Tishell’s chemist and Bert’s Restaurant. If you want to follow in the footsteps of Martin Clunes and the cast then you can always follow this handy walking tour, which takes in all the locations.

But Port Isaac isn’t all about its famous TV actors. There is much more to this village than that. At its heart is still a busy, working harbour. Why not take a wander down here and watch the fishermen haul in their daily catch of fish, crab and lobsters (then tuck in to some tasty seafood dishes at one of the many top fish restaurants nearby).

The village is also a great place to start a coastal walking adventure, and you can pick up the South West Coastal Path here. Why not take a cliff-top walk to nearby Port Quin or Port Gaverne?

Or, if that all sounds like far too much hard work then spend the afternoon browsing the art galleries, local shops or enjoy a bite to eat in one of the many cafes, pubs or restaurants.
