This year we are improving our Wi-Fi to give you a better service. We are installing another new line and hopefully in April, BT should have BT Infinity available for us, so our connection speeds will be greatly improved.

We have just returned home after a great week at Porth Beach Tourist Park where 20+ members of the Phoenix Camping Club had an enjoyable time.  The site is superb, nice large level pitches, the shower and toilet block is a pleasure to use with a constant supply of hot water, it never seemed to run out no matter what time our members used the facilities, and the reception staff are only too willing to help with information on what to do and where to go, they always greet you with a smiling face and are willing to assist where ever they can. 

The site is ideally suited in a valley being only yards from the beach, has a bus stop at the entrance so it is easy and convenient to visit Newquay, Padstow and all the lovely beaches and villages along the coast, the coastal footpath is also only a few steps from the site, making it a great place for walkers as well. Our members were so impressed on this our first visit to Porth Beach Tourist Park that we have booked again for next March, confident that we will not find a better site close to the beach than this.

They even found time to go to Jamie Olivers Fifteen resturant!

They certainly made the most out of every day that they were here. Coach trips were organised all around Cornwall including St Ives and St Michael’s Mount in Marazion. Kath Batten the rally Marshall said ‘Porth Beach Tourist Park is a clean and tidy site and is in an ideal location on the North Cornwall Coast. It has excellent facilities with helpful staff and security. Our centre has thoroughly enjoyed our stay’

The parks that take part in the scheme are all regularly assessed by the scheme’s team of local wildlife experts. The assessors look at the steps parks are taking to:

• Manage their land as a haven for wildlife
• Reduce their use of energy, water and other resources
• Reduce, reuse and recycle the waste they produce
• Support their local communities

David Bellamy uses the assessors’ reports (and any comments received from members of the public) to make his awards each year. Three levels of excellence can be achieved: Gold, Silver and Bronze.

We are trying to qualify for an Award this year and would love your help. You can either fill in a form in Reception that tells us what animals and plants you have seen on-site or click here to do it online.

The UK’s biggest surf, skate and music festival returns for one of the greatest culminations of music and sport the Cornish coastline has ever witnessed!

Men’s surfing has been upgraded to a 6 Star ASP World Surfing Series – that’s one star from becoming a prime event. We are also pleased to introduce 3 Star men’s and ladies Longboard comps and an almighty 10 stages of live music featuring over 100 bands! Dates for 2011 are 10th to 14th August.

Over 50 people who were staying on site attended the event with bunting stretched across the pathways, tables were all peiced together and a few small drinks were shared amongst the Rally group. The happy tourers enjoyed the wedding and more so the street party that followed. The rally was hailed as a great success and we were delighted to host the event at the park

The David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme is one of the longest running green tourism awards in the UK. The idea of the scheme was first sown when David Bellamy gave a talk to members of the camping, caravanning and holiday home park industry in which he gave the audience members a challenge to be part of the environmental solution and not part of the problem.

We made it our aim to become a greener park this year, and have made the first step in achieving our goal of becoming a Gold Award winner!
